Trek goes hook, line, and send’er with an all–new electric hardtail
Trek launches an all-new electric bike that brings its most popular mountain bike to a power-backed platform.
The new Marlin+ builds on the fan-favorite Marlin and equips the do-anything hardtail with an intuitive Bosch motor that gives riders a comfortable, quiet boost everywhere from singletrack to city streets. It manages to do all this while still coming in at a lower price point for Trek electric mountain bikes, so riders can enjoy the best of both Trek and Bosch.
Marlin+ rolls ahead with all the versatility of its non–electric sibling, like a capable hardtail frame that’s equipped with a 120mm fork for flattening rocks and roots, plus front and rear thru–axles that keep handling precise. Wide, 2.6” tires give it plenty of grip, and Marlin+ comes ready to ride with smart wheel sizing. Frame sizes medium and up get fast–rolling 29˝ wheels and small and extra–small models feature size–appropriate, nimble 27.5˝ wheels.
At the center of Marlin+ is Bosch’s new Active Line Plus mid–drive motor. The Active Line Plus delivers 50Nm of torque for a quiet ride with smooth support, giving riders the boost they crave without feeling overwhelmed. The motor is supported by a fully encased 400Wh Bosch CompactTube battery that optimizes energy density for a smaller, lighter package.
The 400Wh battery offers up to four hours of supported riding, and riders can add Bosch’s 250Wh PowerMore range extender to get an extra 60% of supported ride time.
Just like the non–electric Marlin, Marlin+ gives riders do–anything capability with mounts for a rack, fenders, and a kickstand. Riders can choose to keep their Marlin+ a true trail bike or add on all the bells and whistles for the ultimate all–terrain commuter.
